Oral Rabies Vaccination (ORV) Pilot Programme

SSPCA Sarawak, together with the Department of Veterinary Services Sarawak, has rolled out a month-long Oral Rabies Vaccination (ORV) pilot programme targeting free-roaming dogs in Kuching. The vaccine is hidden inside specially prepared bait and placed only by trained personnel under controlled conditions. Please do not touch any bait you encounter, and keep children away from it. This programme is not available to the public for purchase and is not intended for pets at home or for cats.

How long does the adoption process take?

Once your application is submitted, our team will review it within 3 to 5 working days. You will be notified of the outcome via the system.

Can I visit the shelter before adopting?

Yes, we encourage potential adopters to visit the shelter during operating hours to meet the animals in person before making a decision.

Is there an adoption fee?

Yes, a nominal adoption fee applies to cover veterinary costs including vaccinations, deworming and sterilisation. Fees vary by animal.

What if the adoption does not work out?

We understand that circumstances can change. Please contact us immediately and we will work with you to find the best solution for both you and the animal.

Can I adopt if I live in an apartment?

Yes, many animals including cats and small dogs adapt very well to apartment living. We will match you with an animal that suits your living situation. xoxo exo

How can I volunteer or donate?

We welcome volunteers and donations. Please contact us directly via email or phone and our team will provide you with the relevant information.
